Sewing a doll - can I pull it off?

Yet another cute thing I saw on Etsy:

I saw this adorable Raggedy-Ann-esque doll on Etsy - The seller has dolls for sale and also sells the pattern if you want to make your own (enter cheapskate me). The handmade dolls are $35, but she only has brown and red hair dolls available right now, and I want a blonde for W (she used to have a blonde with a lavender dress for sale and it was SO pretty).

The pattern is only $9, so I'm trying to decide whether I can pull of making one with my limited sewing skills (and my tendancy to still have a pile of 15 unfinished projects the week before Christmas). The seller says this pattern is easy enough for beginners, but even though I've been sewing for years my skill level is still pathetic. What do you think? Should I attempt it?

  1. Oh my gosh adooooooooooorable.. It doesn't look too complicated, but this is coming from someone who owns a sewing machine that collects dust because I can't sew... or because I tend to try things like sewing my finger to the fabric... ROFL
