Kendall is in a community theatre production of Seussical the Musical. Rehearsals started a few weeks ago, the show opens at the end of April. Kendall is thrilled and having so much fun. She's in the children's chorus (a "Who"). John and I both did plays in high school/college, so we're really happy for her to have the opportunity.
Since she's so tall and they're a bit short on actors, they've also put her in a few of the adult dances as well, which means she has more rehearsals (they're rehearsing the kids and the adults/teens seperately at first, so now she goes to some adult rehearsals also). So on her adult rehearsal nights its just her, about 30 adult actors, about 20 teenagers. And me.
They have a lot of down time when other people are rehearsing, so as the teens (and Kendall) had their conversations about music and whatever, I watched carefully (pretending not to, though, because thats "too embarrassing"). It occurred to me that none of them would guess that she wasn't a teen unless she said so. I mean, here she was, at the adult rehearsal, just like them. There were too many awkward, gangly, goofy boys swarming around for my liking! She's just lucky John wasn't there, because he would have gone and sat down between her and them.
"Moth-er! Why can't you just drop me off?" Because you're 10 and look like you're 15, thats why. Which made for kind of an awkward conversation on the way home that night....

Ah, the joys of the tweeners. This was spectacular. Brought a smile to my face when I pictured her saying "moth-er!"
