Ok, so I know she's really young for this, and I know babies at this age say stuff indiscriminately, so it can be hard to tell when they actually start knowing what they are saying... BUT, I'[m convinced that WakeLee has started saying a few words and actually means them.
We taught her to clap last week, so now whenever we start clapping, or say "YAY" she claps. Sometimes she spontaneously starts clapping on her own (very cute). We even got her to start saying "YAY" while clapping, too, on Saturday. John doesn't think "YAY" counts as a word, but I do!
She babbles pretty much all day long, but when I show her a picture of John (or when he comes home from work, or we go in to wake him up), she gets very excited and purposefully yells "DADDA!"
WakeLee is fascinated with our dogs, and is constantly chasing & trying to grab them. Yesterday, my Mom was holding W and noticed that whenever one of the dogs would come in the room, she would say, "Dog-da"...Then while I was making a bottle this morning, I heard W excitedly chanting "Dog-da" and when I turned around, the big dog (Daisy) had wandered in the room (where she's not supposed to be). I've never heard her say it unless she was actually looking at one of the dogs. (We call the dogs "doggie" when we're talking to her, "Do you see the doggie?", so dog-da is close enough!)
So, I don't know, take it with a grain of salt, I know its only, "Yay"/"Dadda"/"Dog-da" but consistently & purposefully saying the same words = I'm convinced.

I agree. That hat is adorable btw! =)
